Cleaner Penang under Lim Guan Eng

I just had to add this little remark in this page of "Opinion" as I always view things very fairly and that when credits are due, they should be given accordingly.
My recent visit to Penang in Dec 2010. My wife's immediate perception is a very much cleaner Penang. The roads ,the five foot ways are so clean ,that you cannot even see a piece of rubbish. (Unlike those days, where waste papers ,plastic bags ,empty drinking cans , etc , can be seen lying on almost all roads and streets of Penang). Both our opinion was that , it looks almost like a street in Singapore. Another very noticeable point are works in progress in most places, like patching up of pot holes and repairing of side walks. Many old heritage houses and buildings are also well taken off . This will definitely attract more tourist to "The Pearl of the Orient" . Kudos to Penang and the people of Penang. Keep it up.

Asam Laksa in Ayer Hitam ,Penang

The famous Asam Laksa in
Ayer Hitam ,Penang.
(Kek Lok Si Temple)

Well, I have always induldge myself on every of my "makan trip" to Penang at this famous stall just along the road. (Picture on the left)
Somehow, during this visit in Dec 2010, a local recommended a "better" one ,located just opposite this stall. It is located inside the market food court. (Picture on the right) I did tried both, and found out that the recommendation by a local there, was correct. This stall located inside the market food court (right picture) has better quality soup and definitely more fish and somehow not as spicy as the famous one outside.

Penang.
Taste : 9.5
Food quality: 8
Hygiene (Place) : 9

Remark: MYR12.00 per plate (Rather expensive)
My usual Penang "Makan" Trip . This time in Dec2010, my first stop was this famous Mee Udang place which opens only at 13:00LT (1pm). My one hour wait was justified in view of this fresh, delicious Mee Udang. Non spicy , sweet, sourish, tomato sauce and comes with three big fresh prawns and half of a hard boil egg. The place is clean with a home atmosphere. The set back was the pricey MYR12.00 per plate of Mee Udang,, especially coming from Penang ,where it is well known for delicious with reasonably priced food. I had the coordinates down in my GPS however unable to retrieve it at the moment. Anyway, Ayu Mee Udang is rather famous with the locals there. You can just ask around when you have reached Teluk Kumbar. You will be assured of a friendly direction.
